Scholarships

The Knights of Columbus, Fr. Thomas J. Schwinn Council #11942, supports the development of the youth of our parish in the Catholic Faith. This year we are offering three scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 each for the 2025-2026 school year. The scholarships will be awarded based on the requirements listed below:

Requirements:

 1. Applicant or parents of applicant must be registered members of Saint John XXIII Catholic Parish in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
 2. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior and be of freshman status at the beginning of the upcoming academic year at an accredited vocational program, two-year college, four-year college, or university.
 3. Minimum half time enrollment.
 4. Actively participating in the Catholic Faith.
 5. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of merit with all decisions left to the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
 6. The scholarship shall be a one-time payment to a student who has successfully completed the first academic term and is enrolled for the second term.
 7. Scholarship proceeds will be issued to the applicant on or before March 30, 2026 after proof of enrollment has been provided.
 8. Completed application forms must be submitted to the address below no later than April 28, 2025.
 9. These rules are for the current year only and are subject to change in subsequent years.
 10. Anyone interested in donating to the Knights scholarship fund may give his/her donation to any council officer.
