St. John XXIII actively assists those in need in a variety of ways:
Metro Catholic Outreach- We donate critical food and household supplies throughout the year in the Cedar Rapids metro area. School supplies are also collected each summer.
Mary's Meals- This non-profit program helps feed school children in poor areas around the globe so they can concentrate and learn. Our parish supports 601 pupils at Chizungulire Primary School in Malawi.
Catholic Heart Workcamp- Annual summer service trip for high school students to help the disadvantaged in at-need communities.
Knights of Columbus tootsie roll and blood drives- Our local KC chapter hosts drives throughout the year. The tootsie roll drive raises money for those with Intellectual Disabilities. The blood drives address the critical need for donations.
Plus other social concerns and individual parishioner engagement in the community.
